Our Statement of Faith
The final authority for the faith and life of a
historic Reformed Presbyterian church is the Bible. The Bible is a large
book, however, and there are different interpretations of its message,
even among evangelical Protestant Christians.
For that reason, it is not sufficient to simply
declare that we believe the Bible is the Word of God. There is a need
for summary statements of its teachings, which, although subordinate to
the Bible itself, set forth the teachings of the Bible.
While
most churches may have a simple, short, statement of faith, the
statement of faith of Trinity Presbyterian Church is The Westminster
Confession of Faith. All men in leadership positions at Trinity
Presbyterian Church hold fast to this Confession as a summary statement
of the truths of Scripture. The Westminster Confession of Faith may be
accessed, on-line, at the
Presbyterian Church of America.
Our Name
One of the most important truths of the Christian
faith is contained in the Biblical teaching of the Triune nature of God.
This teaching of Scripture that the True God is Triune is a distinctive
doctrine of Christianity which sets it apart from all of the man-made
religions of the world. Simply stated, this doctrine is that the one
True God is One Being (not three) eternally existing in Three Persons.
As regards personhood, God is three and as regards being, God is one.
It is the essence of Biblical Christianity to
declare that the self-contained, personal, Triune God is the measure of
all things so that all facts of the universe, whether they are
scientific, psychological, sociological, economic, or political facts,
etc., derive their meaning only in terms of the Triune God and His
spoken Law-Word.
As we begin with the existence of the Triune God
as the first FACT of all the universe, so our lives, our families, our
businesses, our churches, our governments, and every institution in our
society must be founded upon the truth of His Word.
The Lord Jesus Christ said, "Man shall not live
on bread alone, buy on every word that proceeds from the mouth of God" (Matthew
4:4). God's people must look to the Triune God and His Word as the
basis for all of life. "For the Lord is our Judge, the Lord is our
Lawgiver, the Lord is our King. He will save us" (Isaiah
33:22). It is our hope that the name "Trinity Presbyterian Church"
will always serve as a reminder of this godly perspective of life!
Our Purpose:
Advancing the Cause of Christ
The purpose of Trinity Presbyterian Church is to
motivate the people of God toward a spiritually mature walk with the
true and living God by teaching them the doctrines of God's word---using
as a guide the Westminster Confession of Faith---so that they are
equipped to infiltrate the world with God's truth in every sphere of
life; and so that they are equipped to communicate the gospel and
disciple converts to the end that the kingdom of God is triumphantly
expanded and the kingdom of the world diminished.
