Ministry Opportunities at Trinity
At Trinity Presbyterian Church we believe that
our faith in the Lord Jesus applies to every area of our lives. From
personal relationships to cultural transformation, the Gospel of the
kingdom of Christ speaks to all! These deep-seated beliefs cause us to
seek to honor the Lord in every aspect of our ministry to our church
family, Statesboro, and beyond.
On this page you will find descriptions of the
many ministry opportunities at Trinity. We invite all our members and
visitors to get involved!
Mission Activities
Trinity Presbyterian Church is committed to the
fulfillment of the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ which is
found in
Matthew 28:18-20:
(18) And Jesus came up and spoke to them,
saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
(19) Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, (20)
teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with
you always, even to the end of the age."
The greatness of the Great Commission is seen in
its three-fold emphasis of evangelism/discipleship, baptism/church
planting, and teaching/instruction. Our approach to missions has as its
primary thrust the support of ministries that are focused on the
planting of churches. While evangelistic efforts in and of themselves
are worthwhile, they are never an end in and of themselves. The
evangelistic efforts of the Apostle Paul were always aimed at the
establishment of local churches, into the membership of which those
converted to Christ were added by the administration of the sacrament of
baptism (Acts
2:41f;
Acts 14:23;
Titus 1:5).
At present TPC supports church planters within
the bounds of our Presbytery and in the countries of Spain, the Czech
Republic, Bulgaria, Peru, Canada, and Chile. Within our Presbytery
(Savannah River Presbytery) Churches have been planted in Savannah,
Wilmington Island, St. Simons Island, and Pooler.
In addition Pastor Barnes serves as the Executive Director of the
Christian Missionary Society (www.christianmissionarysociety.org)
which promotes a church planting ministry in Peru, called the Peru
Mission (www.perumission.org).
Pastor Barnes travels to Peru twice a year and has led summer mission
teams to Cajamarca and Trujillo. Teams have also traveled to Mexico and
Ecuador. Presently Pastor Barnes is assisting in the development of the
German Reformation Project, which is a church planting ministry aimed at
the German speaking nations of Europe.
We are also supporting the efforts of our
Presbytery to reach university students with the Gospel at Mercer
University, Savannah College of Art and Design, Georgia Southern
University, and Armstrong Atlantic State University.
We have our annual Missions Conference each year
in the early spring, usually during the first weekend of March.

TPC Missions Conference may be accessed here:

College and Young Adults
Trinity recognizes the importance of the next
generation of leaders! We are thankful to have many students attend our
church from local colleges, including Georgia Southern University.
Trinity also sponsors an Adopt-A-Student program
for the students from GSU. Trinity families are encouraged to "adopt"
college students during the school year, and these families will often
have students over for dinner, take them out on birthdays, and in other
ways welcome students into the fellowship of Trinity Presbyterian
Church. It's a great way to meet new people---and to get some
home-cooked food! For more information, call the church office at number
listed below, contact us by e-mail, or stop by and chat with us.
Youth
Ministry
Mr. Robert Wagner is the Director of
Youth Ministries. Trinity Church's philosophy of Youth Ministry is one
which affirms the centrality of the home and the position of the father
as leader of his home. A concerted effort is made to minister to the
youth of Trinity in a "covenantal" manner.
Both the junior and senior high
youth meet
every Sunday evening, after the evening worship service, from 7:00-8:30. Outreach to Hispanics
Trinity Presbyterian Church seeks to minister to
the Hispanic community in Bulloch & surrounding counties in a number of
ways.
Weekly English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes
meet for three semesters of 10 weeks each beginning in January, April, &
Late September. Classes meet on Sunday evenings at 7:00pm. The goal of
the ESL program is to provide students with quality conversational
English education while seeking to speak with students about the Gospel
of Jesus Christ.
In addition to ESL classes Trinity desires to
establish home Bible studies for Hispanic families in the community. The
goal of the studies is to evangelize, disciple, & add to the number of
Christ's church.
Trinity also participates in annual short-term
mission trips to Latin America. In the past ten years Trinity has sent
teams to Peru(6), Ecuador(2) and Mexico(2).
